ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontic treatment can improve your dental health
and change your facial appearance for the better, and it can
boost your self-esteem. Orthodontics can provide you with the
chance to participate in improving the way you look.
Three out of Four People can Benefit from Braces
The AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) estimates that
up to 75 percent of people could benefit from orthodontic care.
Nearly 5 million people in the United States and Canada are
presently in orthodontic treatment, according to the AAO. One in
five is over age 18. Some are as young as 2 or 3, and some are
in their 50s, 60s, and older. Healthy teeth can be moved at
almost any age.
Braces Change Looks and Outlooks
A healthy, beautiful smile is the most obvious result of orthodontic
treatment, but there's so much more to the specialty of
orthodontics than meets the eye. Some people with crooked teeth,
reflexively cover her mouth whenever laughing or smiling. Some
people cannot chew their food properly because of a "bad bite".
As we improve a person's smile, self-esteem increases, too.
Orthodontics can be Life-Changing
First impressions often are based on the appearance of a person’s
face, mouth and teeth. A person with a facial deformity or
crooked teeth often is judged negatively not only on appearance
but also on many other characteristics such as intelligence and
personality.
Independent
research studies have shown that people who believe their teeth
or jaws are unattractive may suffer from a lack of self-esteem
and confidence. In some cases, the psychological impact of
crooked teeth has been found to hamper a person’s social or
vocational growth.
Although
dental health concerns are frequently the primary impetus for
orthodontic treatment, it is not unusual for treatment to be
initiated for the patient’s emotional well-being. In many cases,
orthodontics provides both physical and psychological benefits.
Types of orthodontic treatment
Clear Ceramic Braces
For those who do not want their braces to be very noticeable,
clear ceramic braces are an aesthetic alternative. Clear braces
move your teeth in exactly the same way as metal braces do.
Clear ceramic braces are quite comfortable to wear and just as
efficient at moving teeth as traditional metal braces.
Metal Braces
Mostly popular with kids. The most popular braces are metal
braces (stainless steel). Should metal braces be right for you, we
will utilize the most efficient, comfortable, and technologically
advanced metal braces available today.
Different colors placed on braces is great for
personal expression and is also quite popular and fun. Because
it's so simple to change the colors, you can feel free to select
a different color at every visit.
Invisible Braces- (Invisalign®)
Invisalign® is the "invisible" way to straighten your teeth
without traditional braces.
Invisalign
works through a series of clear, removable, and comfortable
aligners. The aligners are designed and constructed by computer.
The treatment consists of a series of these clear overlay
retainer appliances, which are removed for brushing your teeth
and eating.
Invisalign® can help you get the great smile you've always
wanted because it's...
Invisible, so no one can tell you're straightening your
teeth. So now you can smile more during treatment as well as
after.
Removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while
in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are no problem.
Comfortable, because it has no metal to cause mouth
abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means
you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments.
Invisalign®
also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you
start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when
your treatment is complete.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
You wear
each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to
eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with
the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little,
week by week - until they have straightened to the final
position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed.
You'll visit
your orthodontist or dentist about once every 6 weeks to ensure
that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment
time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners
worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary
from case to case.
